Can government end hunger?
Can government end hunger?
Belo Horizonte a city in Brazil has done something with their government that makes me soooo jealous. I read this story first thing this morning and I shared it with my facebook friends and immediately got into an argument with one. It's hard to find any article that's more optimistic -even messianic than this. A city manages to elect representatives who actually erase their hunger problem and turn them into a shining example of what can happen when people are creative and CARE enough to fix what doesn't work. I've long been concerned with the evil that I find inherent in charging people to eat food. Call me a crazy socialist (I might just answer) but that is just the beginning of the fascination that springs from this article published in Yes Magazine. The emphasis on nutrition is so wonderful, they talk about the FREE menu at their school and it's so wonderful compared to what goes on in most schools in this country. On a side note, the diet in our hospitals!? WTF.
and what was the argument I had?? If you're interested, ask me for real and I'll tell you.
